Reduced Vertical Separation Minimums

Currently, above 29,000ft, aircraft must be separated by 2000ft.  Using RVSM this will be reduced to 1000ft.  The aircraft must be better equipped in the altimeter and TCAS department if I am not mistaken.

RVSM was an early suspect in the DHL/Bashkarian (SP?) midair over Germany last month.
