(AP) -- Midway Airlines lost $11.46 million the first six months of this year, contributing to its decision to ground its fleet, the company told a bankruptcy court. The disclosure came Friday. The airline had earlier failed to file regul= ar income and expense information with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Raleigh, saying the reports could undermine confidence in the airline. Midway Chief Executive Officer Robert Ferguson cited continuing losses in the airline's decision to shut down operations Wednesday and team with US Airways. Midway filed for bankruptcy protection in August but continued flying a reduced schedule. It ceased operations after Sept. 11 and resumed flying Dec. 19 after receiving a $12.5 million federal grant. Financial statements filed with the court Friday show the airline still was losing millions each month despite adding flights and gaining passengers. Midway lost at least $2 million each in January and February. The airline boarded twice as many passengers in March as during the previous month, yet posted a $1.54 million loss. US Airways will operate Midway as part of its US Airways Express beginni= ng in October. It will pay Midway an undisclosed fee to fly 50-seat regional jets under the US Airways banner.
