Houston Intercontinental Airport Newsletter for 1/27/02

-Houston will be gaining access to London=92s Heathrow Airport... somewhat=
=85when British Airways commences service from LHR to IAH via Washington=92s=
 Dulles Airport on March 31st, 2002. This new flight will be operated by a 7=
47-400. It will operate via IAD in both directions, with an hour=92s layover=
 on the ground. The purpose of this new flight is to provide connections to,=
 primarily, BA=92s Lagos, Nigeria services that provide lucrative oil busine=
ss passengers. Meanwhile, Gatwick service, which has fluctuated between dail=
y and ten-times weekly service since 9/11, will streamlined to a daily 777-2=
00 flight, giving Houston double daily BA flights for the first time. The fl=
ights will be scheduled as follows (all times local):
*BA217 Depart LHR 9:05AM Arrive IAD 12:10PM
       Depart IAD 2:05PM Arrive IAH 3:55PM
*BA216 Depart IAH 5:30PM Arrive IAD 9:10PM
       Depart IAD 10:25PM Arrive LHR 10:55AM

-New Continental Airlines service to Amsterdam, The Netherlands, due to be l=
aunched on May 2nd with a 767-400ER, will now commence with new times and a=20=
767-200ER. CO 46/47, originally planned for a 4:25PM Houston arrival and a 6=
:30PM departure for Amsterdam, will now be scheduled as follows:
*CO47 Depart AMS 3:25PM Arrive IAH 7:15PM
*CO46 Depart IAH 6:55PM Arrive AMS 11:35AM

-KLM, effective January 15th, is now codesharing on select Continental Airli=
nes flights out of Houston to US destinations.

-Air Jamaica will be restoring some service to Houston cut after 9/11. Effec=
tive May 25th, a new Saturday A320 frequency will be added, giving the airli=
ne four weekly flights between Houston and Montego Bay, on Wednesday/Friday/=
Saturday/Sunday.

-American Airlines 737-800s will be making their first appearance in IAH sta=
rting March 2nd. AA will start two roundtrips with the Next Generation 737s,=
 both originating in Dallas, with one returning to Dallas and the other cont=
inuing on to Miami. The 738s are replacing 727s on the flights in question.

-Air Europa is now codesharing on Continental Airlines flights from Madrid t=
o Houston via Newark.

-The North Concourse of Terminal A is now open, as of January 12th. Official=
 ribbon cutting will take place on January 31st. North Terminal will be the=20=
home of United Airlines, USAirways, Southwest Airlines, domestic charter air=
lines, international charter departures, and eventually, Air Canada.

-American Airlines will add a ninth frequency on Dallas/Fort Worth-IAH effec=
tive March 2nd, with an F-100. They will also add a fifth frequency on Chica=
go (O=92Hare)-IAH on May 1st, also with an F-100.

-Lufthansa will reinstate daily service to IAH effective March 31st. The air=
line currently flies five times weekly, a reduction imposed after 9/11. All=20=
flights are operated by A340-300s.

-Cayman Airways will also be increasing service to Houston starting April 17=
th, when they will add a new Wednesday 737-200 frequency, complimenting exis=
ting flights on Thursday/Saturday/Sunday.

-Aerolitoral, Houston=92s only airline lost due to 9/11, is back. The Aerome=
xico subsidiary is now flying once on Sundays only between Monterrey and IAH=
, with Saab 340s.
