Right, I've travelled to Asia without checked luggage: laptop case and a small roll-on suitcase like the flight crews use. It depends on length of the trip and amenities at the other end (ie, hotel laundry facilities). I've done trips as short as 4 days to Korea (two in transit and two in-country). Needless to say I didn't pack a huge suitcase.
