Hi Detlef - I think Christoph has already submitted the application to the fund, in somewhat different form than the one you commented on. There are some subsequent msgs between he and I on the list. (In short, I basically agree[d] with all your comments. We probably didn't get everything right for the submission, but hopefully close enough.) We need a list of "todo projects", similar to what is available for projects, who apply for Google Summer of Code. There are, in fact, no such projects. Maintenance is not the same as summer of code. What I put near the top of the https://gnu.org/s/automake web page, years ago, was a link to a message I wrote that said, basically, "please look at the open bug list if you're willing to help". https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/automake/2021-03/msg00018.html Zack wrote: I'd suggest that the most useful way for a new contributor to help at this time is to analyze the backlog of bug reports. That's a good point. I guess I should combine that idea with my post and recast it as a web page in the automake directory. Or maybe this is something a volunteer would like to do :)? BTW, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Bogdan, who spontaneously came forward a couple years ago and has, indeed, analyzed a ton of reports, written good patches for a bunch, and generally been extremely helpful in keeping Automake going. Happy hacking to all, Karl
