Debian-legal (and many Debian developers) consider the GFDL and the DFSG to
be incompatible.  BUT this is on hold until "Sarge" ships, and GFDL documents
are freely allowed in Debian "Sarge".  The autoconf maintainer may, or may
not decide to have the GFDL documents back for Sarge...  but I do believe
the positive response shown on this thread could persuade him to add the
docs back for "Sarge".

In any case, if he does not add the docs back, I will maintain them in a
separate package.

The whole issue of GFDL and Debian will take a head after "Sarge" releases.
