I started with Firefox 1.5.0.9 which does not have xulrunner as a pre-req so when upgrading to Firefox 3.0.6, it pulled in xulrunner as an installed package via dependency, it appears it always wants to pull in the latest version of the installed dependencies. This is with 3.2.19 from Red Hat 5.3.

Actually update-minimal isn't working exactly as I expected. Firefox is a perfect example of this. I used this command;
yum update-minimal --advisory=RHSA-2009:0256-06, it properly tried to install firefox 3.0.6 however it pulled in the
latest xulrunner which is provided by RHSA-2009:0315-04 (1.9.0.7) even though the advisory I specified explicitly defines
xulrunner-1.9.0.6. After installation I am left with an unusuable firefox (Could not find compatible GRE between version
1.9.0.6 and 1.9.0.6.). Please advise.

run rpm -Va --nofiles --nomd5

Do you actually have broken deps?
