The problem is actually a python problem. Did you install the RPM version or do it from SRC? If I were you I would compile it and uninstall the RPM version to that it's made for your box. If you want to find out exactly what the error is and try to resolve it simpler try this https://lists.dulug.duke.edu/pipermail/yum/2005-August/007246.html Glen Vickers BSIT -----Original Message----- From: yum-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:yum-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Wayne Delia Sent: Wednesday, October 12, 2005 5:58 PM To: yum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [Yum] Trouble running 'yum update' on Fedora Core 4 I am attempting to update programs on my Linux box with Fedora Core 4 using "yum". When running the command *yum update*, I am receiving the following messages: There was a problem importing one of the Python modules required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was: No module named yum Please install a package which provides this module, or verify that the module is installed correctly. It's possible that the above module doesn't match the current version of Python, which is: 2.4.1 (#1, May 16 2005, 15:19:29) [GCC 4.0.0 20050512 (Red Hat 4.0.0-5)] If you cannot solve this problem yourself, please send this message to <yum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>. ----- I have downloaded and have apparently installed the yum version 2.4.0-1 package, and have downloaded and installed Python version 2.4.2 but am still getting the error message. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
