[Yum] using yum to install a package/rpm on my system...

i've downloaded yum, perused the docs... and i'm trying to install/update an
rpm...

the rpm is a beta for mysql. i have the rpm/package on my box. i do an

yum install MySQL-Max-4.1.3-0.i386

and yum states that it can't find the package. is there some way to force
yum to see the rpm/package in a given dir?? i would imagine that there
should be a way to solve this, and that i'm just missing something...

thanks,

-bruce

Bruce-

If you are using RHL 8.0 -- which is no longer being actively supported
by Redhat, I would highly recommend that you go to www.fedoralegacy.org.
The fedoralegacy site has a yum rpm for RHL 8.0 (as it is one of the
supported update mechanisms) and should have some documentation to help
with the dependency issues.
