if you are trying to compare red hat linux in that resprect with sun solaris, 
the you should think of the comps file as the .clustertoc file in solaris.

whereas ks.cfg can be regarded as a mixture of the sysidcfg and profile files.

therefor the deselection capability seems to be in the right place for me.
