My solution to package selection during kickstart is to modify comps file. I have taken many packages out of base group to keep an absolutely minimum base group, defined new groups of my own. As long as all RPM packages referenced in comps file are original RPMS on CD's, you don't have to run genhdlist utility to regenerate a new hdlist file. Now I only have to specify one of my own groups in %package section (along with a minimum base group installed automatically): @ My Server @ My Desktop and so on. We regularly have to mangle ours to clean out junk we don't want. One other idea we had but never had time to implement was to give some sort of option to specifically exclude a package. This way you could leave the generic base but specifically ask for some packages not to be loaded. Never have found time to implement this though... - Matt Daniel Shane wrote: > > Hi, > > I am adding some new features to the kickstart mecanism and wanted to know > if these changes could be added to the main anaconda branch.
