I hadn't looked at the guidelines for ages, but it *does* help *some* people actually pay attention to following them when it gives some *reasons* why "interspersed" is preferred on mailing lists like these (because reading the email in straight-through manner is like following a coherent conversation, with answers in response to questions), and not top or bottom posting (because it becomes incoherent and huge). And the guidelines *does* that in "if you are replying to messages," and "proper posting style."
