I recently purchased a stand-alone HP ScanJet Pro 4500 (L2749A), <https://www.hp.com/emea_africa-en/products/scanners/product-details/8744135>. The L2749A works fine with KDE Ubuntu's Skanlite, but I have not tried with KDE Fedora. I found I have to wake the scanner up before trying to connect to it over the network. I don't know if the scanner responds to the magic wakeup packet. > P.S. Ironically, I bought the L2749A because my multi-function Epson Workforce 630 did the same thing. I could not scan anymore on the Workforce due to ink problems, so I bought a stand-alone scanner. I filed a complaint about Epson with my Attorney General's office. It is unlawful to tie products and services, like scanner function to Epson ink. The thing is, it is so profitable for companies to engage in the shady practice, the companies will not change. The companies still make more money after the fines for doing it, so there's no reason to stop. It does not matter how many times the FTC or a state Attorney General drags them into court.
