Thanks much. 'Twas the connection to the computer. I don't get back there very much. Movies talk to me now. I found some mp3 files that firefox will play, but aplay just generates noise.
From what I've read, aplay fred.mp3 should work.
I get noise. I've tried -f MPEG , but that does not work either. For me, this is mostly curiosity.
