   I skimmed through it. I didn't read anything that precludes an 
   implementation as an X protocol revision. Ditch last century's baggage 
   (colormaps, fonts); use RENDER exclusively; replace the archaic 
   COMPOUND_TEXT with UTF-8; etc…



The people who do the work get to choose how they do it.  From my
perspective, the biggest issue with Wayland has lack of support from
Nvidia, which is really not the responsibility of Wayland developers.

Oh, yeah. That's going to do that. Without a buy-in from Nvidia, Wayland's going nowhere.
