One other thing to check. With the HP4620 on the network run scanimage -L the important thing is that this command uses Bonjour (which use mDNS, or Multicast Domain Name System) to discover devices on the network. If, and I tested this on my HP 8710, if Bonjour is disabled in the printer's web interface then it will not be detected as a scanner. This also answers my own question about how the URI is determined at least in one case If I have Bonjour enabled on my printer I get 2 devices. device `hpaio:/net/HP_OfficeJet_Pro_8710?hostname=hp' is a Hewlett-Packard HP_OfficeJet_Pro_8710 all-in-one device `hpaio:/net/hp_officejet_pro_8710?ip=192.168.1.166&queue=false' is a Hewlett-Packard hp_officejet_pro_8710 all-in-one If I disable Bonjour I only get 1 device device `hpaio:/net/HP_OfficeJet_Pro_8710?hostname=hp' is a Hewlett-Packard HP_OfficeJet_Pro_8710 all-in-one I'm guessing that the single entry is as a result of installing the printer/fax/scanner under hplip. But I've not yet determined where that entry comes from. -- Right: I dislike the default color scheme Wrong: What idiot picked the default color scheme _______________________________________________ users mailing list -- users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send an email to users-leave@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fedora Code of Conduct: https://getfedora.org/code-of-conduct.html List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
