off-topic : Adobe reader doesn't show file window

as Adobe Reader cannot be fully replaced by evince or other application, I note that if I start Acroread and I use the File/open menu, it doesn't work. Using acroread name_of_file in a terminal it works. Any idea? sorry for the off-topic
