Dracut is the program that creates the initramfs file at any time, such
as when installing a kernel. If the file already exists, which it
obviously does, since you want to change it, you have to use -f to
overwrite it. The one you make should have the same functionality as
the original one other than the changes you are trying to make.
Anyway, I tried it and will see what happens when next I boot this
computer, however I believe the Plymouth command has performed that
operation,
It should have. I assume that the plymouth script runs dracut.
However, I have tried changing the plymouth boot theme myself a couple
of times and I don't think I've had any success.
