If you only want to update the one for your current kernel, which is
the most likely situation, just run "dracut -f".

That left me uncertain of what would happen, it looked to me that it
might make boot slower than what it is and the object of the exercise is
simply to change a splash screen, not worth creating new problems for me
to work out of.
Joe is exactly right, the man pages are good enough if you already have
some familiarity with a command, but for something new to me they always
seem to lack an example of the command I need. It is often better to
google it for that. In this case I did not find enough to give me the
confidence I /wanted, so I asked here/.
Anyway, I tried it and will see what happens when next I boot this
computer, however I believe the Plymouth command has performed that
operation,
