thank you for answering me.

No I haven't Kamerka;
my distro is Fredora (21) and there is (for default) a program that is named cheese ...

-----
the command "lsusb" give me
Bus 003 Device 007: ID 0ac8:305b Z-Star Microelectronics Corp. ZC0305 Webcam
         or
Bus 003 Device 008: ID 058f:3881 Alcor Micro Corp.

(.....I have two "cameras".....)

----------------------
if I use the camera:
Bus 003 Device 007: ID 0ac8:305b Z-Star Microelectronics Corp. ZC0305 Webcam
I can see images inside cheese (the program) but I cannot fix the image inside the same  program (cheese)  when I press the button for grasp the image.

if I use the other camera nothing is displayed on the window of the program (cheese)  .

I looked for drivers , and the command :
sudo find /lib/modules -name "*cam.ko*"

give me this output :
/lib/modules/3.17.4-301.fc21.x86_64/kernel/drivers/media/usb/stkwebcam/stkwebcam.ko.xz
/lib/modules/3.17.4-301.fc21.x86_64/kernel/drivers/media/usb/gspca/gspca_vicam.ko.xzI'm

I'm thinking, now, that the malfunction could depend only on the poor quality of web'cameras.

I'll buy a better camera before to continue the troubleshooting..

thank you

Angelo

Hi,

I am trying to set my computer to use a web camera (this function doesn't work actually with cheese, for example).

With this program (cheese) I can see images by the camera, but when I shot an image, then the image that appears in the window of shot images is blank...

I read the document The Webcam HOWTO (at http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/html_single/Webcam-HOWTO/) and I tried to do what wrote there,   but I hadn't success...

Can I get an concrete help to achieve my purpose ?

Thank you

Angelo

Does your distro have a program called Kamerka? That works perfectly in PCLOS. Judging by the name, it is designed to work in a KDE environment. That doesn't mean it won't

work with whatever desktop environment you're using.  I Googled for the name and found this:  http://dos1.github.io/kamerka/   which points to a download location.
