Then fire up pavucontrol and turn off pulseaudio for the AMD card. It is the last tab, configuration; probably set to analog duplex now, but if you open the dropdown, there is an entry for off. Once that is selected, pulse doesn't do anything with the card; it is pure alsa. Then run the above command again, listening through headphones.
