I just want to second this. OpenShot is a bit quirky at first, but when you get used to it...

When using a camera without optical zoom (smartphone...) i never zoom. I use steady, calm movements. Then i have full freedom to cut scenes afterwards and add zooming, panning, etc. Zooming on a camera with only digital zoom is no better than zooming in OpenShot afterwards.

Wondering if there are any Blender aficionados out there that might be able to give me a hand with video editing.

Are you just trying to do typical video editing? Cutting scenes, adding a soundtrack, titles, etc? I don't think Blender is the right tool as it's more geared to 3D design.

You might be better off using a tool like Openshot or Kdenlive, both are available at RPM Fusion (because of the dependence on FFMpeg).

Openshot does basic stuff internally but actually does use Blender to render advanced titles. It can be a little quirky sometimes and the 2.0 release is long overdue but it's pretty usable.

Thanks,
Richard
