Re: CurrentPendingSector

Hi all,

Sorry for reviving a thread from the past, but I have a very similar
problem: my Current_Pending_Sector value is 2, and I get notifications
about it. I'm wondering whether I should replace the drive. What is
strange, though, is that when I run a long self-test (smartctl -t long
/dev/sdc), it reports „Completed without error”. Thus, I can't even
find the addresses of the faulty sectors – and actually, I question
the validity of my S.M.A.R.T. values. Either the
„Current_Pending_Sector” is incorrect (in reality, I have none), or
the self-test was not efficient enough to find the bad sector.

This is a 2 and a half years old Western Digital USB drive which I
don't even travel with: it's always plugged into the same machine and
not moved. I'd be surprised if it would need to be replaced so soon. I
have a WDC drive that is older than 5 years and still reported as
healthy. This is why I trust the brand and always buy WDC drives.

Below I paste the output of smartctl -a, which includes the S.M.A.R.T.
values and the result of the long self-test:
