The main reason I write about the things I don't like about Gnome 3 is that I'm still hoping that somebody will be able and willing to explain why some of those decisions were made. Not so that I can argue about them because that would be pointless -- not only because this is the wrong place but also because it's too late -- but so I can learn why the devs thought (and, AFAICT still think) they're a good idea. I may not want to use Gnome 3, but I'd like to understand the reasoning behind the design because it doesn't make any sense to me, yet was (presumably) designed by rational people for what they considered to be good reasons.
