No, its using VESA because that's the driver specified in your xorg.conf file. We need to determine *what* your video card really is, and what X will do with it on its own.... Please, send output of "lspci | grep VGA" and where is the Xorg.0.log output that tells us what video card you are using? (I think you snipped it.) Are you trying to hide it???? I'd like to see what video card it thinks it is using, and what driver it loaded on its own, and what it has to say about the card's video modes, and the monitor's EDID capabilities, and what extensions it thought to load....
