Nope. The radeon driver man page states that it supports PCI, AGP, and PCIE chipsets and your RV635 is listed. And the other output seems to indicate its working. Let's concentrate on mplayer. Does it work any better if you specify "-vo xv" or "-vo xvidix"? I have an M56P chipset (Mobility Radeon X1600) and I have no trouble playing .mpg files with -vo xv.
