We've a short length that goes through open air between buildings, about two metres, and a long length that goes around under cover at roof level. During lightning storms one of our switches goes nuts. I had thought of replacing it with STP to see if that was better, but I've yet to see anywhere local flogging STP cabling off. I don't like the idea of wireless, there's the lack of security issues, and just plain bad reception. Fibre optics is an expensive alternative to cabling through harsh conditions. -- [tim@bigblack ~]$ uname -ipr 2.6.23.1-10.fc7 i686 i386 Using FC 4, 5, 6 & 7, plus CentOS 5. Today, it's FC7.
