Many (most?) laptop users of F14 will be dual-booting and a lot of those users will want to exchange files between the two environments. If the problem has been caused by the recent release then a lot of folk could have problems. It would be very useful to find out what 'is' causing this problem and whether it 'is' introduced with the updated drivers. If the OP 'did' have time or the opportunity to run the checks that Jon suggested, maybe posting some results here (both for copying 'to' the backup, and copying 'from' the backup back to 'home'), I think that would help us get a firmer resolution, but that's asking a lot if this is an easy 'fix' for him/her.
