Indeed it does not matter if it is a new file or part of the keyboard conf.
In both cases the addition listed below caused a freeze of the X session (during start up,
the machine froze, not reaching the login prompt).
So I had to return the original situation, and the problem is still open:
How can you work with FC14 on lenovo T510, on battery, without having uncontrollable and
unreadable low luminosity?

Yes Xorg doesn't use xorg.conf anymore, it uses everything that is
located in xorg.conf.d.
So create a new file or attach this to your keyboard config (it
doesn't matter):
Section "Device"
Identifier "Device0"
Driver "nvidia"
VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation"
Option "RegistryDwords" "EnableBrightnessControl=1"
EndSection
This should fix your problems. Reboot and enjoy. But if you experience
any trouble and you get thrown into terminal-mode, remove the file.
