Running Plasma 6 on Wayland on Fedora 40. Every time I step away from
my system for a while I come back to a hung plasmashell.
I am able to recover by switching to a console on a different VT and
restarting it (systemctl --user restart plasma-plasmashell.service) and
waiting for 30 seconds or so. (Presumably systemd is killing it after
some timeout.)
Anyone else seeing this? Any ideas on how I can figure out what the
heck is going on?
I haven't seen this issue, but have you tried logging in remotely via
ssh and using "journalctl -f" and waiting to see what happens? Then we
may see some evidence of what is causing the problem.
FWIW:
In my initial post in the 470xx-related thread here on 14 July I said
that attempts to run the plasma-wayland desktop filled /tmp with
plasmashell crash reports, and I needed to use plasma-x11.
I'm still using the same grub-command line and (updated) rpms, but am no
longer seeing this; at present plasma-wayland seems to work for me.
