UPDATE: I found a post on the Arch forum (of course), by someone who was having a similar problem. It seems to be related to using PulseAudio, rather than pipewire. After switching my system to use pipewire, plasmashell did not lock up overnight. On 7/31/24 10:58 AM, Ian Pilcher wrote:
Running Plasma 6 on Wayland on Fedora 40. Every time I step away from my system for a while I come back to a hung plasmashell. I am able to recover by switching to a console on a different VT and restarting it (systemctl --user restart plasma-plasmashell.service) and waiting for 30 seconds or so. (Presumably systemd is killing it after some timeout.) Anyone else seeing this? Any ideas on how I can figure out what the heck is going on?
