I think that the deduplication is a good idea, but, in my opinion, Firefox should be the default choice.
I know that it is not a part of KDE project (and only God know why it is not Qt), but it is a very good and customizable browser.
And about Okular and Gwenview, besides Okular can open a great variety of file formats it's meant to be a reader and Gwenview an image viewer and editor for simple tasks. So, they both should stay.

It's worth noting that the Workstation live image (aka Gnome) has Image
viewer, Shotwell, Evince AND Gnome Documents.
