Recently I've found that some program is running on my Fedora-23/KDE laptop and (presumably) taking 100$ of the CPU, so that no keyboard or mouse input is possible. I see that there is constant hard drive usage. The "outage" only lasts 20 seconds or so, so it is not a serious problem. It usually happens just after logging in, but occasionally it happens later. Is there any way of seeing what the program is, since obviously I cannot run anything like "top"?
why can't you? kde freezing is not the same as computer freezing * dnf install htop * configure it to show I/O * CTRL+ALT+F2 -> login into a VT
