Anne: FYI - I discovered an add-on for TBird today that lets you do the above. It's called "Folder Account 5.0" and I've been testing it today. It seems to work as advertised. After installation, you simply right click on a folder and go into properties - there you will see a new option "From account" with a drop down that lets you select which mail account to associate with the folder...
