One other thing that may be relevant is khotkeys (global shortcuts). I've heard of it causing symptoms like this. Could try renaming/removing ~/.kde/share/config/kglobalshortcutsrc and relogin. Another thing to try is to see if this is reproducible as another (new) user on the same box. (rules out configuration issue). -- Rex
