I think many used 'develop' because it was part of 'git flow' which many of the infra developers used to be proponents of. https://datasift.github.io/gitflow/IntroducingGitFlow.html In that model people did work in feature/bug branches, and then merged to 'develop' to stablize/test/integrate, then it merged to master for a release. Anyhow, just a bit of history why we seem to have so many develop branches. :) kevin
