I'd rather have a Fedora-style TeX distro with frequent updates that TeXLive's once a year monolithic disk image. There's a beta version of MiKTeX's packaging tool (mpm) for Linux [http://blog.miktex.org/post/2005/08/mpmunix.aspx], but so far nobody made a Linux TeX distro using it.
