https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2313693 Bug ID: 2313693 Summary: perl-macros warns when building 3rd party rpms Product: Fedora Version: 40 Hardware: x86_64 OS: Linux Status: NEW Component: perl Severity: low Assignee: jplesnik@xxxxxxxxxx Reporter: magnus.fromreide@xxxxxxxxxxx QA Contact: extras-qa@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx CC: iarnell@xxxxxxxxx, jplesnik@xxxxxxxxxx, kasal@xxxxxx, mmaslano@xxxxxxxxxx, mspacek@xxxxxxxxxx, perl-devel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, ppisar@xxxxxxxxxx, psabata@xxxxxxxxxx, rhughes@xxxxxxxxxx, spotrh@xxxxxxxxx Target Milestone: --- Classification: Fedora I am trying to build an rpm for a c++ library from an 3rd party spec file containing no perl what so ever. When doing so I get errors of the form sh: line 1: /opt/3rdparty/bin/perl: No such file or directory and when I look in the spec file they have included the line %global _prefix /opt/3rdparty in order to namespace their additions to the system. One quick workaround for the problem is to simply uninstall perl-macros (which also removes the rest of perl) and that works in my case as I don't need any perl but it still feels odd that the macros presume that there is a perl in %_bindir I am also unsure about why it tries to process this spec at all as there is no perl in there.
