I liked Haikel's idea earlier in this thread about seeking out a diversity specialist for this role, potentially someone not previously involved with Fedora and Red Hat (and therefore without existing biases). My perspective on this is that while seeking diversity in culture, gender and field of expertise is important, but so too should be working on improving the Project's engagement with a wider user and contributor base. In my mind, drawing more women to the Fedora Project should be on equal footing with drawing more casual and external participation in the Project, and that the position should explicitly address that. You're right; we need to be careful that the project does not become too homogeneous; as the old saying goes, "If three people always agree, two of them are redundant". I think that's very much a Diversity topic. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iEYEARECAAYFAlQplz4ACgkQeiVVYja6o6MBgACff3VfRUVj6vuNmPdV7iNECC1x 1ukAoKHFI1kz21f4Q/hMeCK82hQfK8kG =g0J1 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ board-discuss mailing list board-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/board-discuss
