Please find attached a run of pcscd -fad
on a 32 bit intel gentoo system.
The first run, failed, this is using coolkey-1.1.0-r3.
Half way through, I interrupted pcscd, restored my coolkey backup and re-started.
The second run worked, this is using my binary tar backup of coolkey-1.1.0-r1, which is 32 bit, and of course, useless on my 64 bit system.
The change, my guess, is the 'power on/power off' change.
The older, working code, leaves the device powered, the newer, non-working, turns it off after a period.

It's interesting though to get an insight how other cards can be set up.
Cheers,
