I figured out the problem with OpenSC.  For some reason, /usr/lib/libpcsclite.so is provided by the pcsc-lite-devel package, not pcsc-lite.  Once I installed the devel package, OpenSC worked for the user.

Can you explain how OpenSC fails to find the reader, and Coolkey
succeeds? They both use pcsc-lite, if Coolkey works, then I doubt it
is in the *reader*.

What does "opensc-tool -L" say and what does "pkcs11-tool -L" say for
that particular user?
