However it works no problem with Gnome desktop
Set up an http server and install from that.
Examine the log to see what packages _you_ use. Presumably, when you use
the standard procedure and source, all your deps are met, and the log
http shows _every_ file you fetch: those and no more are what go on the CD.
I expect the CD will actually work best of you also use the log to order
the files on the disk.
