Glacial, perhaps.
I've booted my laptop (Tosh Sat 1400, C 1.2, 256 Mb) off the LAN to
upgrade from FC3.
I'm using http, so I have evidence!
It started ...
192.168.9.179 - - [12/Jun/2006:17:10:42 +0800] "GET
/5/i386/OS/Fedora/base/updates.img HTTP/1.0" 404 315
It got to here and had a big think:
192.168.9.179 - - [12/Jun/2006:17:20:47 +0800] "GET
/5/i386/OS/Fedora/RPMS/shadow-utils-4.0.14-1.2.i386.rpm HTTP/1.1" 206
A very big think!!
192.168.9.179 - - [12/Jun/2006:17:20:47 +0800] "GET
/5/i386/OS/Fedora/RPMS/shadow-utils-4.0.14-1.2.i386.rpm HTTP/1.1" 206
52532
192.168.9.179 - - [12/Jun/2006:19:14:08 +0800] "GET
/5/i386/OS/Fedora/RPMS/libgcc-4.1.0-3.i386.rpm HTTP/1.1" 200 52677
192.168.9.179 - - [12/Jun/2006:19:15:02 +0800] "GET
/5/i386/OS/Fedora/RPMS/libgcc-4.1.0-3.i386.rpm HTTP/1.1" 200 52677
ALmost two hours of thinking between packages. I don't suppose it helps
that it's taken to fetching each package twice....
It's here as I speak:
192.168.9.179 - - [12/Jun/2006:20:11:48 +0800] "GET
/5/i386/OS/Fedora/RPMS/freetype-2.1.10-5.2.1.i386.rpm HTTP/1.1" 200 5
48636
and the progress meter says it's got over a day to go.
What the heck is going on here? I've checked the Anaconda list archives
index for the past and there doesn't seem to be anything there. Is this
version of Anaconda dog-slow, or have I messed something?
