AES params with dmix

Hi!

I am trying to set up hdmi pass through with dmix plugin. dmix plugin can only be connected
 to hw plugin. I tried the following and it didn't work:

If I refer to hw directly in slave, then I need to define the AES parameters through hooks. But I cannot define ctl_elems hook, since hooks are separate type. I
 am stuck. Is this even possible?
