The C-Media 6632a and similar chips may have an issue with resetting..? There 
may be a difference between powering the PC with the card already plugged in, 
and 'hot-plugging' it. 

I also use the U7 with Linux (Ubuntu), and currently have no problems as long 
as the card is already plugged in when powering on. I *think* I saw the issue 
you describe when I bought the card and 'hot-plugged' it for the first time.
