Hello, I have the problem with the HDA driver, that I have no sound, once X is started. Everything done as root: 1) Booting into console: Have sound (speaker-test -c 2) 2) startx (twm): No more sound. I checked mixer and everything seems correctly set up. 3) Terminating X, back to console: still no sound. I have no idea what is going on. I tried deactivating (by renaming) /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc and also /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d. Still same result. Attached output of alsa info script prior to starting X and in X session. One difference I see that the audio stream under various nodes changed from 0 to 5. Could this be the culprit? If yes, how to prevent it? I recently switched hardware. Before that I tried to get pulseaudio running and I think, the problem started then - on the old hardware. I am not sure, whether pulseaudio or alsa had issues. So I removed pulseaudio before switching to the new hardware. But I didn't recheck sound with alsa on old hardware after pulseaudio removal. Any ideas? Regards, Prakash
