Good morning alsa devs,
I am using a Mac mini, triple booting to OSX 10.10, Windows 10, and Ubuntu Linux 14.10.1 over UEFI, with a GPT-only partition scheme.
I am using the 3.16.0-30-generic kernel at the moment.
After trying a variety of driver options, permutations, and other esoteric twitches, I finally got sound on Ubuntu under special conditions.
I set
options snd-hda-intel index=1,0 enable_msi=1
In my /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
(I have no idea why, I am not sure the enable_msi parameter is required, but it works this way), AND IN ADDITION, I need to have headpones plugged in at boot time.
I can then unplug the headphones, but this is the configuration I need in order for the driver to properly detect my internal speaker, and play sound.
I tried mainstream kernels, up to the latest revision available for Ubuntu (3.18~), to no avail.
I tried to set the model parameter of the driver to all Apple-relevant models, to no avail.
Please advise: I will gladly provide all the necessary information and documentation.
