/dev/snd/timer not running on a Raspberry Pi

More details on the Raspberry Pi forums: http://www.raspberrypi.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=64936&p=478560#p478560

But essentially the problem is that playing with plug:dmix blocks waiting for an event to arrive from /dev/snd/timer.

Should I send this to the dev list?

Cheers,
Dave
