I'm currently on a short vacation trip and didn't get around to investigate on that before I left. Sorry about that. 

Other people who had the same kind of problem reported success with the latest 3.10 kernels. Could you try that as well and let us know please?

If the problem persists, I'll ckeck again once I'm back.

I've upgraded my system to Fedora 18, which has kernel 3.10.9. Initial tests with skype indicates it's working fine. I'll continue using it and report back in a couple of days.
