Hi, As Michael's post of Aug 19th 2013 points out, there is a problem with ASLA driver and USB devices. See bugs: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=975158, https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=997093 This started months ago - USB Camera/mic work fine on Fedora 17. But after an update to 17 kernel, this bug starting appearing. I've now upgraded to FC18 and then FC19 and the bug exists on all combinations. I've tried 2 different USB webCams (both Logitech) and 2 different USB headsets (both Logitech). Connecting a USB microphone device (Webcam or Headset) works at first. When starting skype for the first time, it works. Then when focus is taken off of skype and to a new window the mic stops working. This is always reproducible. If you leave skype in focus then eventually the ASLA driver will get to the same non working state. The only errors I see are 1) Aug 20 15:59:21 prava-dev2 kernel: [ 5881.992169] ALSA sound/usb/endpoint.c:391 cannot submit urb (err = -18) 2) Aug 20 15:59:31 prava-dev2 kernel: [ 5892.809299] ALSA sound/usb/clock.c:309 4:2:1: cannot get freq at ep 0x1 3) Aug 14 07:38:06 prava-dev2 kernel: [33600.262463] ALSA sound/usb/clock.c:315 current rate 0 is different from the runtime rate 32000 But the one that appears to be associated with the bug is "cannot submit urb (errno = -18) ASLA sound version: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version k3.10.7-200.fc19.x86_64.
